The Edge, a high-speed ferry, leaves St. Maarten's Pelican Marina in Simpson Bay for Fort Bay on Saba every Wednesday through Sunday at 9 AM and boards for the return trip at about 3:45 PM. The trip, which can be rough, takes just over an hour each way. Round-trip fare is $60, plus 5% extra if you pay by credit card.

Another option for a trip to or from St. Maarten is the Dawn II, a 65-foot aluminum vessel that holds 50 people and runs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday between Philipsburg and Fort Bay. Dawn II departs Saba at 6:30 AM, arriving at St. Maarten at 8:30 AM, and departs St. Maarten at 5 PM, arriving at Fort Bay at 7 PM. The fare is $35 one way and $60 for same-day return ticket; a $5 harbor fee is additional. Call ahead to check current schedules.
