La Nasa is the only establishment on the waterfront side of the street in Esperanza. This simple wooden shack, decorated with strings of Christmas lights the entire year, serves up cheap beer and rum drinks and draws island-born Viequenses, rather than expats. Locals congregate on plastic chairs out front to play cards or stare off into the placid Caribbean from an open-air back room. On weekends, the place explodes into a street party of salsa and merengue dancing.
