Hacienda Tamarindo Review

The 250 year-old tamarind tree rising more than three stories through the center of the main building gives this plantation-style house and former dance hall its name. With its barrel-tile roof and wood-shuttered windows, it's one of the prettiest hotels on the island. You can easily find a spot all to yourself, whether it's on a shady terrace or beside the pool. Linda Vail, who runs the place with her husband, Burr, decorated each guest room individually. "Caribbean chic" may be the best way to describe her way of combining well-chosen antiques, elegant wicker furniture, and vintage travel posters. The penthouse is the nicest room on the property. with a separate entrance on the third floor, and a massive private terrace overlooking the ocean. The made-to-order breakfasts are a great reason to get up early, and the on-site horseback riding along the beach is a lodging perk.

Every need is considered before you arrive.

Get away from it all! Relax and enjoy a home away from home in a setting that will take your breath away. We picked mangos and fed the horses in a pasture leading to the sea, borrowed beach chairs and snorkle equipment to take to our own private beach, woke each morning to the most delicious breakfast cooked to order, with fresh fruit and juices and coffee. You can ask for a lunchbox to take on your daily adventures and have a drink from the honor bar upon return. The staff and owners were a pleasure to get to know and had ideas for helping to make your stay the best vacation ever! Zach, the English Sheepdog greats everyone daily. This is a gem on an amazingly beautiful little island where you truly can get away-no phones or TV!
