Jose Enrique Review
Since 2007, Chef Jose Enrique's eponymous restaurant in La Placita de Santurce has been the preferred dining choice for locals. In 2013, the world started catching on when José was nominated for Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chefs. He is also the first Puerto Rican chef to receive the prestigious James Beard award nomination, for a second consecutive year. At Jose Enrique, elevated Puerto Rican cusine is served in a very casual setting that fits right in with the surroundings. The menu, brought to your table on an eraser board, changes all the time. The crab fitters are a staple as is the whole fried yellowtail snapper served over a root mash with avocado and papaya salsa. The restaurant's no reservation policy means that you will have to wait for your table. Put your name on the list and wander around La Placita, where you can sip on cheap drinks and mingle with the locals.
