The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan Review

Elegant marble floors and fountains don't undermine the feeling that this is a true beach getaway. The hotel's sandy stretch is lovely, as is the cruciform pool, which is lined by statues of the chain's signature lion. The rooms have a bright, polished look that gives a feeling of understated luxury—turquiose divans, gray quilted headboards, and marble bathrooms. Though most room windows are sealed shut to muffle airport noise, many suites open onto terraces, and numerous rooms have balconies. You can pamper yourself at the full-service spa with spirulina algae body wraps and hot stone massages. The lavish casino, the largest in San Juan, has a separate entrance from the lobby.
