San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino Review

The shape and color of a cardboard box, this lively, popular hotel doesn't add much to the skyline of Condado, but as soon as you step instead the impressive lobby—with its stunning coral sculpture carved from wood, chic spots for lounging, and welcoming bar—you'll feel you've arrived in the Caribbean. The rooms also offer a bit of flair with tropical fabrics and bright colors, and there's a view of the ocean from most of the balconies. The high points are undoubtedly the pair of pools, which add a bit of whimsy with their gushing fountains and swirling mural. Plus, the resort's stretch of beach is arguably the best in the neighborhood.

    Fun For Kids

Overall I enjoyed staying at this Mariott. The shallow pools were a big hit with my three year old as was the water slide. The room was nicely appointed and had a lovely view of the beach, though we didn't take advantage of the patio with it's rather low fencing as much as I would have liked out of concern for the safety of my daughter who is a climber. I also liked that the room had a fridge (great for storing kid beverages) and a safe since we spent a lot of time at the pool. The coffee bar in the lobby was also super convenient for grabbing early morning cappucinos and was a less expensive alternative than eating at the breakfast buffet (which didn't really wow me) or grabbing lunch pool side. The negatives included housekeeping skipping our room the first day of our stay. A rowdy kid at the pool who should have been ejected because he was posing a safety hazard (waiting at the end of the slide and jumping out in front of users, causing them to fear they were about to slam into him) but lifeguard seemed reluctant to do anything but verbally scold him which didn't stop his behavior, leaving an irate guest to have to confront him and complain to management. Not cool.
