The Gallery Inn Review
Nothing like this rambling, eclectic inn exists anywhere else in San Juan—or Puerto Rico, for that matter. You can shop from your bed at this 200-year-old mansion, as owner Jan D'Esopo has filled the rooms with her own artworks. But it's not only the rooms; the hallways, the staircases, and the roof are lined with her bronze sculptures, ceramic busts and plaques, and eclectic paintings. D'Esopo and her equally gregarious husband, Hector "Manuco" Gandía, are terrific hosts, not least at the daily happy hour with wine on the poolside patio. Check out the many container gardens throughout the property: much of the produce grown here is used in the on-site restaurant; there's even a tank for tilapia. No two rooms are alike here, but all have four-poster beds, hand-woven tapestries, and quirky antiques in every nook and cranny. You can view the coastline from several rooms and from the rooftop terrace.

Janelle_Newhouse, from Pittsburgh, Pa
The year and a half of planning that was done in preparation for our destination wedding was filled with trials and tribulations. Seeking a venue through websites and phone calls can seem like a risky game for such an important event. The few photos we could view would leave any couple uneasy as to what the final outcome of a wedding may be but we were overwhelmed by The Gallery Inn upon our arrival. Immediately upon entering we knew we had made the right choice. The Gallery Inn was beyond our wildest dreams. The excitement was enough to bring us to our knees.
The warm welcome we were offered by Jan and the rest of the staff, all the hard work and attention to detail that was paid to make every moment special did not go unnoticed. From the intricacy of the rooms and gardens, to the beautiful music that was arranged, the delicious food (that left our guests speechless) and the beauty of the art surrounding us we couldn't have asked for a better place to share our love for one another.
With family and friends surrounding us we said our vows with the back drop of the beautiful alter, the gardens, the winding pool and the sound of the classical guitarist. Both of us, along with our guests were in awe of all the beauty. Every step of the way we put our faith in the referrals made by Jan and her staff. From the guitarist and accordion player, the officiant (Carlos Lopez), Charisse who made our cake to Michael Rivera who helped with hair and makeup it is obvious that we were in good hands.
We've talked to many married couples who went through their own weddings who would eventually say, "we would never do it again." We have spent the last two weeks after our wedding spending hours discussing the events of our day and would say the exact opposite! If we had this day to do over again we most certainly would and we wouldn't change a single thing. Our wedding was PERFECT! We loved our time spent here and how unique and special it was.
We were truly blessed in not only having our wedding at The Gallery Inn but also being able to come to Puerto Rico. We left a piece of our hearts there and so will be sure to return. Words do not seem enough to truly express how thankful we are to everyone for their efforts in making our day the best day of our lives!
