Nuyorican Café Review
There's something interesting happening at this hipper-than-hip, no-frills, wood-paneled performance space nearly every night, be it an early evening play, poetry reading, or talent show or, later on, a band playing Latin jazz, Cuban son, Puerto Rican salsa, or rock. On Wednesday nights, watch the owner play the conga drums with the house salsa band, Comborican. During breaks between performances the youthful, creative crowd chats in an alley outside the front door. There is usually a $5 cover charge.
