You can shop from your bed at this 200-year-old mansion, as owner Jan D'Esopo has filled the rooms with her own artworks. And not just the rooms—the hallways, staircases, and even the roof are lined with her fascinating bronze sculptures. Even if you aren't a guest, D'Esopo is pleased to show you around and may even offer you a glass of wine. (Just make sure that Campeche, one of her many birds, doesn't try to sneak a sip.) No two rooms are alike, but all have four-poster beds, hand-woven tapestries, and quirky antiques filling every nook and cranny. There are views of the coastline from several of the rooms, as well as from the spectacular rooftop terrace. The first-floor Galería San Juan displays artwork by D'Esopo and others. Pros: quirky old building; full of charm; luxurious rooms. Cons: a bit far from the action; few amenties.
