One of the Caribbean's finest examples of art-deco architecture, this ship-shape hotel hosted high-society types back in the 1940s. After a stem-to-stern renovation, it's ready to sail again. Egyptian motifs in the grand ballroom and other period details have been meticulously restored. Guest rooms, many of them as big as suites, are decorated in sensuous shades of cream and oatmeal. Business travelers will appreciate the huge desks outfitted with broadband access. Relaxation-seekers need not look further than the sparkling pool or the compact spa with its massage area overlooking the ocean. N Bar, on the second floor, has quickly become a see-and-be-seen place for the city's trendy crowd. Pros: coolest design in town; boutique-hotel vibe; attentive staff. Cons: far from the sites; some traffic noise.

I cannot believe that you still have the Normandie on your "Fodor's Choice" list, the hotel is run down, the grounds have not been upkept, and although the lobby is beautiful they use it for live bands and loud parties that last until 4 am, meaning no sleep for anyone in the hotel since the rooms surround the lobby. Please revisit this spot and revisit your review.
