Horseback Riding in Puerto Rico

Horseback riding is a well-established family pastime in Puerto Rico, with cabalgatas (group day rides) frequently organized on weekends through mountain towns.

Hacienda Carabalí (Rte. 992, Km 4, north of entrance to El Yunque, 00745. 787/690-3781), a family-run operation, is a good place to jump in the saddle and ride one of Puerto Rico's Paso Fino horses. Hour-long rides ($30) take you around the 600-acre ranch, while two-hour treks take you to a river where you and your horse can take a dip.
