Puerto Rico's first -- and only -- all-inclusive resort, to the east of the Westin Río Mar, is on an enviable stretch of pristine coastline. The open-air lobby, with its elegant floral displays, resembles a Japanese garden, and the swimming pool's columns call to mind ancient Greece. If it sounds like there's an identity crisis here, you're right. It's a mishmash of styles that don't come together in a coherent way. But the hotel, run by Sol Melía, does fairly well at being all things to all people. The 500 suites, many with their own hot tubs, are spread among two-story bungalows. Many look out onto the pair of 18-hole golf courses, which still had some unfinished landscaping, even at this writing. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

Just returned from the resort and Fodor's needs to change it's write up because it is no longer an all inclusive resort. We knew this before we went, but we were there for a business meeting. The physical structure and atmosphere is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and eager to please. The problem is the resort is 45 min from San Juan, very secluded and the resort lacks the services (mainly food) to accomodate the guests. There is a main cafe where you will get your continental breakfast for $22.00 and then a gourmet italian and an asian restaurant. There is no where to even get a cup of coffee or soda during the day, unless you want to get it through room service, which is very expensive. If you want to leave the property then you must go through the company who has the exclusive contract for transportation and activities. They charge $80.00, one way, to take you to San Juan. You cannot even get a ride, or a cab to leave the property to go to a fast food restaurant since you must use this company. We were fine since we rented a car and so we travelled to San Juan to sight see 2 days. We met people who were going to be there for a week and they were already complaining on day 2 of the lack of food choices, pricing etc.
The only way the resort will make it is to change these issues because this was the topic of conversation by all guests at the pool
