Fodor's Review:

The elegance of marble floors and gushing fountains won't undermine the feeling that this is a true beach getaway. The hotel's sandy stretch is lovely, as is the cruciform pool, which is lined by statues of the hotel's signature lion. Works by Latin American artists adorn the lobby lounge and the hallways leading to the well-equipped business center. Rooms have a mix of traditional wooden furnishings and wicker pieces upholstered in soft fabrics. A full-service spa begs to pamper you with aloe body wraps and parcha (passion-fruit juice) massages. Though most room windows are sealed shut to muffle airport noise, many suites open onto terraces. Tastefully so, the casino has its own separate entrance.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

Posted by Avidtraveler81 from New York on 11/20/07

- This place is horrible. Definitely overpriced. The place doesn't even clean the windows. The room smelt like mildew. They lock the hotel gates at night so you feel like you are in prison. Jones Beach is better than this beach. If that is what you want to call it, it is more like a sand box full of old people. The drinks are twelve dollars a piece and in small cups. Trust me, stay somewhere else. Go somewhere else!! Buyer Beware.

World class, everything a RItz should be

Posted by Deborah from Cincinnati on 5/3/06

As in any well run hotel or resort, paying the bill should provoke a sigh and the thought "wow, what a nice place" rather than "I was robbed". This is surely so at the Ritz (as it should be). It's VERY expensive, but every single aspect of the place deserves 5 stars. The rooms are lovely, clean and luxuriously appointed. The common areas are the same and more. The pool and beach areas are particularly nice, with access so close that you don't feel like it's a hike to go from room to beach. I suppose the only negative would be that it's a quiet place, not a lot of night time activity. But down the street lies Hotel El San Juan, the king of night life in San Juan anyway. So be peaceful at the Ritz, and have fun at El San Juan.
