$-$$, Caribbean, Vieques
Fodor's Review:
If you're looking for authentic island cuisine, this ain't it. This longtime favorite, across from the waterfront in Esperanza, is geared almost entirely to gringos. That doesn't mean the grub isn't good, though. Find a spot at one of the curvy concrete tables and order the red-snapper sandwich (popular at lunchtime), or go all out for babyback ribs or jerk chicken. The salads are excellent, including the caribeño (fresh greens with curried chicken) and the festival (greens with grilled chicken, blue cheese, and cranberries). At night Bananas is the hot spot on this side of the island.
