You can dine inside, enveloped in the soft glow cast by dozens of candles, or slide outside to the terrace for a meal under the stars. This northern Italian restaurant, one of the many at the El Conquistador Resort, is among the best on the island's eastern coast. It's certainly one of the most elegant, with crisp linens and delicate crystal. Start with the minestrone soup -- it's a guaranteed winner -- and follow it with fettuccine tossed with grilled shrimp or one of the other pasta or dishes.

Surprisingly good Italian food

We recently ate at this restaurant (Feb 2008) and were very happy with the experience. The restaurant is located at the El Conquistador resort. In my opinion this restaurant has Italian food that is as good as the top 10% of Italian restaurants in NYC. Expect to spend a lot of money.RATING: 4.4
