La Mallorquina

$$-$$$, Latin American, San Juan

User Rating: ***** 5.0

Fodor's Review:

Dating from 1848, La Mallorquina is thought to be the island's oldest restaurant. The menu is heavy on such basic Puerto Rican and Spanish fare as asopao (a stew with rice and seafood) and paella, but the atmosphere is what really recommends the place. Friendly, nattily attired staffers zip between tables agains peach-colored walls and beneath the whir of ceiling fans.

This restaurant is like entering the past. What Old San Juan was really like. Beautiful atmosphere. Really good local food. Priced reasonably. Very romantic.
