The Atlantic Ocean and the Laguna del Condado border this high-rise (once a Wyndham), whose two wings -- fittingly named Ocean and Lagoon -- are connected by a covered walkway. Standard rooms have nice touches like walk-in closets and dressing areas. A stay on the Plaza Club floor entitles you to 24-hour concierge service, use of a private lounge, as well as complimentary Continental breakfast and refreshments all day. Find your own place in the sun on the beach or beside one of four pools. Dining options include the poolside Tony Roma's.

HOTEL IS LOCATED IN A PRIME LOCATION, BUT THE SERVICE AND CLEANLINESS OF THE ROOMS MUST BE IMPROVED.

No reason at all to stay here. Doormen watched me struggle to get my luggage through the doors; snarly front desk help. The "beach" is a spit of sand ending under a highway overpass, directly under the flight path. Rooms are beautiful, but not practical -- no knob, handle on the inside of the bathroom door, we had to pry open the sliding doors with our fingers, or leave the doors open while using the bathroom. Form over function in a BIG way.

FIASCO AT CONDADO

The horrendous experience we just had at this hotel prompted me to warn other travelers here. The entire stay at this place was a nightmare starting from the slower than snail's pace at check-in to the unfriendly attitudes on the part of the concierge and front desk people. I stayed here about 12 years ago and it was sad to see how far this hotel has spiraled down. The hotel is in need of a major renovation and room update. The first day there began with a problem with the room keys- there were none. The computer was not working and all guests had to be escorted by a hotel "security guard" each time you wanted to enter your room. The wait for the guard was so incredibly long that you didn't want to leave the room. The people at the front desk thought that this was funny. The minibar that they advertise on their website is empty and room service takes so long to get that we never ordered it after the first time. They tacked on a bar bill to our room that belonged to someone else and were annoyed that we brought it up when we went to pay our bill. The television was not working and they never sent someone up to fix it. We finally got it working ourselves after about 1 hour of trying to repair it. Every day brought a new frustration for which we paid $325.00 per night. Truly a place to stay far away from.
