This well-run business hotel is ideally located if you need to sleep close to the airport (15 minutes away) or want to explore Fort-de-France (10 minutes). The lobby is done in blue and white, with attractive wicker furnishings. The front-desk staff is efficient and bilingual. Although the rooms aren't luxurious, they are cheery and bright, with a fresh look and comfortable furnishings. (Americans may prefer the superior rooms, redecorated in 2008, the standard ones being stark with no elevator.) Breakfast is a bountiful buffet at the terrace restaurant by the pool. Afterward you may be tempted to stay put and enjoy the panorama of the sea and the city. If you want to go into town, there's a bus just down the hill for EUR 1 or call a taxi. Know that the hotel's namesakes, the squash courts, are no longer. Pros: key staffers speak English; close to city but with suburban quiet; always good Franco-Caribbean cuisine. Cons: not a handsome façade; few resort amenities.
