A member of the Relais and Châteaux group, Martinique's most exclusive resort has brought back the wealthy, international set. The staff strives to make sure that guests leave satisfied. Contemporary villas (some bi-level) have a Franco-Caribbean design, with Southeast Asian influences; most have a view of the crystalline lagoon. The less-expensive garden rooms have water views from their second-floor bedrooms, but no private plunge pools. All suites have CD-DVD players and plasma TVs. Discriminating guests (as well as nonguests) can indulge themselves at the elegant Spa by Guerlain; from the soft music to the minimalist decor, it's a soothing place to enjoy professional treatments. Sports activities include kayaking, kitesurfing, yoga, and exploring the neighboring islands by yacht. Pros: sophisticated and elegant; big main pool; island's most contemporary bar/lounge but with a Martinican feel, and Franco-Caribbean gourmet room. Cons: not a whole lot to do; somewhat isolated; beach is not expansive.

The resort is in a remote location, hidden among banana fields. Very large suites, professional and smiling staff (but service is not always faultless), excellent food, wines and bar. Nice pool but disappointing beach area. It is clearly a high-end resort, but some items like the sightseeing offer are really overpriced.
