Martinique Hotels

Cap Est Lagoon Resort & Spa

  • Fodor's Choice

  • Large central infinity pool
  • Really special lounge/bar, with a Martinican feel and an array of rums

  • Somewhat isolated and both taxis and rent-a-cars are expensive
  • Beach is not that big
  • Some suite renovations are needed and only cosmetic ones being done
  • Pricey and some clients question the value factor. Suites 26 through 30 have incredible views of water and mountains

Fodor's Review

At Martinique's most exclusive resort, the caring staff strives to make sure that guests leave satisfied. Contemporary villas (some bi-level) have a Franco-Caribbean design, with Southeast Asian influences; most have a view of the crystalline lagoon. The less expensive garden rooms have water views from their second-floor bedrooms, but no private plunge pools. All suites have CD/DVD players and plasma TVs. All, even the junior suites are spacious, and well laid out, and serenely quiet. In-room Wi-Fi is both free and consistent. Discriminating guests (as well as nonguests) can indulge themselves at the elegant spa here. Sports activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, kite- and windsurfing, yoga, small catamarans, and (the most fun) exploring the neighboring islets on the resort's yacht. In season, there is light entertainment, like jazz trios.

The best in Martinique.

The resort is in a remote location, hidden among banana fields. Very large suites, professional and smiling staff (but service is not always faultless), excellent food, wines and bar. Nice pool but disappointing beach area. It is clearly a high-end resort, but some items like the sightseeing offer are really overpriced.
