La Table de Mamy Nounou

$$-$$$, French, La Trinité

User Rating: ***** 4.8

Fodor's Review:

If you looked at this eatery's business card, you'd expect a creole menu served by an elderly island lady. Not! It's owned by a French family. The elegant Madame Mahler will greet you; her husband, Jean-Paul, presides as chef, and her son, Bastien, eloquently describes the menu in the King's English. Have an aperitif while you admire the view from the lounge decorated with fascinating African antiques. Savor the pumpkin velouté, and go on to the housemade foie gras with Sauternes jelly. A good main course is the combination of fish, shrimp, and scallops with a cinnamon-cider sauce. Finish with the marquise au chocolat, with rum-soaked chestnuts, and a quality cigar.
