Breezes Runaway Bay Review

This moderately priced SuperClubs resort, which underwent an extensive renovation and expansion in 2007, emphasizes an active, sports-oriented vacation—including golf (at the resort's own course), four tennis courts, and an array of water sports. Expert instruction and top-rate equipment are part of the package. Guests flock here to dive and snorkel around the reef off the beach, which also makes the bay superbly smooth for swimming. There's also a good golf school.

Do NOT waste your money, at least until the place is upgraded. While many would say rooms don't matter when at a nice resort, believe me, yes they do. The rooms here are so outdated, the furniture is truly nasty, as in a vinyl pull out sofa, drapes are rotted and torn, bedspread is so many years old it is faded and gross. All bedding is basis Motel 6 grade. Floors were not mopped from the beginning and stains were evident, not to mention grit. i always wore slippers. A large 2-3" cockroach didn't help matters when he appeared in middle of the night. Daily housekeeping was a joke. No way would we have eaten room service in this room, it was that gross. Grounds are nice but invaribly there are bottles, or trash lying around that no one seems to consider it their job to clean up. Staff are friendly but for the most past lazy. Tips are pretty much expected for basis services so forget the leave your wallet at home theory. Food was so boring and uneventful that meal time was almost a chore. Salad bars of iceburg lettuce, croutons, olives and beets...come on? Buffets were embarassingly sparse and the presentation was nonexistentent except for the market street party night. This place has hit bottom and without upgrades will die quickly. We will never go back (had been once before) and wouldn't recommend unless your expectations are nothing more than what you'd get at the Super 8.

Such a huge disappointment when you consider the money and time to make such a trip.

We reserved and paid for an Ocean front suite at Breezes 6 months in advance. Upon arrival in Jamaica was told no rooms were available at Breezes and was forced to be relocated to a substandard, 40% occupied resort and given a standard room with no view of the ocean. Was refused any compensation by Breezes and later by SuperClubs head office. SuperClubs overbooks rooms and/or randomly selects people to be relocated to low occupancy resorts and then will not compensate you. I was cheated out of waht I paid for and will definitely never go to a SuperClubs resort again.
