Jamaica Nightlife

Ward Theatre Review

Built in 1912, the Ward Theatre was launched with a production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. Over the years, the Ward Theatre has become one of Kingston's most cherished icons. Known not only for its prominent role in the city's cultural life, it has also hosted many important political events. Named a national monument in 2000, it continues to host year-around events, including classical concerts and theater. Although it's closed for renovations at this writing, it's expected to reopen by mid-2013.
