Devon House Review

Built in 1881 as the mansion of the island's first black millionaire, then bought and restored by the government in the 1960s, Devon House is filled with period furnishings, such as Venetian-crystal chandeliers and period reproductions. You can visit the two-story mansion (built with a South American gold miner's fortune) only on a guided tour. On the grounds you can find some of the island's best crafts shops, as well as one of the few mahogany trees to have survived Kingston's ambitious but not always careful development.
