Bob Marley Mausoleum

Bob Marley Mausoleum Review

Travelers with an interest in Bob Marley won't want to miss Nine Mile, the community where the reggae legend was born and is buried. Today his former home is a shrine to his music and values. Tucked behind a tall fence, the site is marked with green and gold flags. Tours are led by Rastafarians, who take visitors through the house and point out the single bed that Marley wrote about in "Is This Love". Visitors also step inside the mausoleum where the singer is interred with his guitar. The site includes a restaurant and gift shop. Visitors from Ocho Rios can arrange transport by taxi, but the round-trip fare is about $175; a less expensive option is the Chukka Bob Marley Jeep Safari ($74, 4½ hours, ages 18 and older), a guided tour with Chukka Caribbean. We strongly recommend a guided tour here since the hustlers that meet you outside the Bob Marley Centre are some of the most aggressive in Jamaica.
