Day 1 We arrived at the hotel do find that the elevator was under construction and they were using some sort of jackhammer. We were given the room second closest to the construction. Please keep in mind that this was our wedding and honeymoon, and we did plan to stay in the room part of the time. We had purchased 2 adjoining rooms as we had 2 adult children (age 18) and one child (age 9) traveling with us, so adjoining rooms were a MUST. We immediately
asked to be moved when were realized that the noise and falling debris were not acceptable. We were told to wait as the staff searched for adjoining rooms that were further away from construction but not a downgrade. I was taken to rooms 3308 and 3309. These rooms were considered an upgrade and initially were thought to be quieter, so we accepted them and happily so that we could sit down. Our luggage was brought over some 40 minutes later. 40 minutes! If you are changing rooms and have just arrived, you expect your bags that have just been delivered to your rooms to go with you as the bellhops are still at the rooms. The rooms were so dirty that our bare feet turned black after we took our shoes off. I called housekeeping and let them know that they needed to come back and clean the rooms. When the maids came back, they brought a mop with a spray bottle, no bucket. The floor remained dirty, and still our feet were turning black from the floor in both rooms. We decided to clean it up ourselves with towels and water from the tubs. That is when we found that 3309 had no water in the shower, so I called the concierge. They told me they would send someone down to fix 3309. I also let them know that 3308 had ant like bugs coming out from behind the shower head and out of the ceiling of the shower, and such little water pressure you couldn't rinse off. Please keep in mind that this is all still the first day/night that we have arrived. The maintenance man arrives about the time we notice that the kitchen staff is so loud that there is no way to sleep! I go out side the room and see that a hole had to be cut in the ceiling to ensure water is now running to 3309. Great, it works and we can shower! We make a suggestion that maintenance replace the shower head in our room with another room as they don't seem to have another one. It works! The AC is not working in 3309 but there are not enough tools provided to the staff, and there is nothing that can be done. We open the doors between rooms as our AC never shuts off in 3308. The kitchen never seems to shutdown. We finally fall asleep around 6 am, only to be awakened at 7 to the sound of construction. We wake up and find cockroaches in the bathroom, closet, and around the beds. 5 star hotel? Day 2 We search for the sound of construction. We find it directly under our room! We specifically asked to be AWAY from construction. Is this some bad joke? Did they do this on purpose? Did we make the concierge mad when we asked to change rooms? I call the concierge and ask to change rooms again. I report that the maintenance man Darion is the only staff member that has check on us regarding that state of our rooms. He wants to ensure we are happy with the shower and that the floors are clean and we have no ants/cockroaches. We call the concierge again, asking for a new room, cleaning, quieter room, anything...we need sleep. As far as we can tell, there is no way anyone has stayed in these rooms in quite a while. They are dusty, dirty, and the grout in the bathroom looks like it is stained from some sort of old red wine. The kitchen noise is out of control. Day 3 We are told that we can't change rooms unless we take a downgrade as the hotel is full. The staff still seems surprised that anyone is staying on the level we are when they come to deliver any sort of service. I sneak away for a massage and fall asleep, but the construction noise permeates the walls in that building as well. The staff turns up the music and it drowns out the noise. They are wonderful, so it is a great experience. We go to speak with the front desk and request the GM. He does come to speak with us. He tells us that he will send more maids to clean, give us a new room, and have the kitchen door closed if we decide to keep our room. We sigh in relief. We are contacted by the concierge desk. They inform us that there are no rooms unless we take a downgrade. They send more maids....with no bucket. There are still stains on the floor. We stay in the room and point them out to the maids so we at least get the big stains taken care of. We ask the GM if they can spray for bugs. We understand the tropical environment, but cockroaches the size of my fingers every day? I don't think so. We start placing a towel under the door of both rooms. We go and meet the wedding planner and her assistant. They are both outstanding. We laugh/cry as we tell them how horrible our experience has been. We are praying for a beautiful ceremony. We beg Michelle to make at least that part of our trip as nice as possible. We go to bed with the usual kitchen noise after a day of construction under our room. **** this. I go out into the hall and see the kitchen cook there too. He is sweating so profusely I ask if he is O.K. He says yes but he is soaked! I tell him to open the doors to get a cross-breeze. I apologize, telling him that I have a boss that doesn't seem to care about my working conditions sometimes too. No wonder they don't have people stay in these rooms, or shouldn't anyway! The staff is roasting in the kitchen and we cant sleep. That door needs to be open apparently for them to not overheat while they cook?? I know the GM told me that I shouldn't worry about them, but I do. That just seemed so wrong to me! Day 4 Wedding day! We woke up at the usual 7 am non-ordered construction wake-up call. My 9 year old tells me that the water sports staff on the catamaran called him names because he told the guy he wanted to go back to shore. Keep in mind that we are from Colorado. There is no ocean here. It made me angry that a grown man would tell a 9 year old that. I wondered what that man would do on a ski slope, or driving in a blizzard. Your staff needs to be mindful that these are tourists. The kids there are often smart enough to know when an insult is just that. I decided to take a kayak out with my daughter, thinking it would be fun. we were hit by the speedboat pulling the banana ride behind it as they were turning the boat around. I had to push off of the hull before we went under. Thank the good lord they weren't going very fast. Later in the afternoon my daughter and I go get our hair down in the salon. I also had my makeup down. SHE was FANTASTIC. So, off to the wedding. Michelle made the wedding and reception perfect. From the ceremony to the reception, the cake to the toasts, everything was perfect. My guests love the food. Here is where it gets interesting: A construction crew comes in and starts ripping up the carpet before my reception is finished. What is going on? I don't ask as this is the ONLY thing on our trip that is going the way that it should be. Day 5 There is no construction under our room this morning. We wake up at 9! The AC is still broken in 3309. We receive room service with a smile. Our friends give us a gift of a couples massage. We look forward to going to it. The time says 1:00 for today (6/15). Our friends that purchased the massage had already left the resort by that time. We hang out with the family and have the worst meal yet in the buffet. That is by far the worst food we have had. It is so bland I can't believe that anyone likes to eat anything there. We head off the the massage. It's in a hotel room?!? They tell us it is quieter there. I feel uncomfortable. We come out and receive the absolute worst massages either of us have ever had. Mine is given by a pregnant woman (very pregnant by looks of it?) I am afraid to ask here to use more pressure, which is how i like my massage. My husband's massage has too much pressure and neither of us leaves a tip. They ask us to sign, even though the card clearly states that this is a gift. We do, figuring that this is business as usual. Day 6 We are ready to go home. In fact, we envy our family and friends that have already left. The AC in room 3309 is still broken. The bugs in 3308 are still there. They never left. I believe they are permanent as they are coming through the caulking and from behind the shower head. I go out onto our balcony where we had our breakfast after the wedding (only time you can get room service) and the dishes had never been picked up. Wow. 5 star hotel? I don't believe it, and I don't think most people will after this is posted. The construction returned on the morning of day 6. We asked to talk to the GM again. I let him know that I would write all of this down as most of it was never addressed. If you have ever stayed outside of a kitchen at an all inclusive you would know the noise level is insane...I don't know if anyone has, because this should NEVER happen. The architect should be forced to stay there for 6 months of hell. I think the GM should stay with him. The concierge staff should be in 3309 with no AC and the construction wake up calls. I highly doubt the staff at the front desk gives 2 ***** about the rest of the hotel. The concierge desk closest to the beachfront rooms sat in her office watching family guy instead of sending a maid to clean on day 2. Day 7 Thank god we are going home. But wait...something else was going wrong in the lobby. I had gone to the lobby yesterday to settle up the charges to the room. I notices they were over by about $260. I asked for a printout of the charges. We were charged for our wedding gift of a couples massage! I ask for a printout of my friend's charges. I didn't ask to have her charges given to me, only for the front desk to see if she charged a couples massage to her room. She did! They charged her $270. Wait, what? On the beaches website, they cost $240. On my room charges, they listed it at $266.67. What, what? So you are telling me that different people get charged different rates? I assure the girl at the front desk that it was a GIFT for our wedding. She tells me that as we signed, it has a different transaction number so we have to pay for it and she has charged it to my card. Without my signing. WITHOUT MY SIGNING! It's time to leave and there is no more time to dispute. I tell her I will be speaking with a manager when i get home home and she shouts "GOOD LUCK MON" as I walk out the door. I don't know if she was referring to working with the hotel or customer service, but either way I get no response. I go out to the bus, which is now leaving and don't see our bags. The bellhop has yet to get them. The hotel rep at the podium tells me that it's a long walk with no working elevator. I truly don't care anymore. I've been making that hike for every meal, drink, wedding photo, bathroom break, and any other convenience that you could want from a 5 star resort that promises to serve drinks on the beach, prompt service, wonderful views, a golf course I could never find, a super small kiddie Pirates Island filled with teenage bullies the staff ignored, I STOPPED CARING. I told her to go get the damn bags. I admit that I finally lost my temper for real. My husband started to go get the bags for the entire family including my 60+ father, but I stopped him. By god, they were going to get our bags if it was the last thing this hotel did. The did get the bags, albeit 20 minutes late. The bus driver then decided to take a break halfway to the airport. For those of you that have not had the pleasure of staying a Beaches Boscobel, this is a hard 2 hours on the bus. We explained that we needed to get to the airport to meet other family members, but still, we made that stop. Hell, I wasn't the driver. Dealing with customer service: I wrote them an email over a week ago. i was promised a answer with 5 days. I wanted a copy of my bill. The resort charged both me and my friend for the worst massage I have ever had in my life. I want a refund! As you can see, this was the WORST "vacation" we have ever had. We travel to all-inclusive resorts every year, and will NEVER go to Beaches or Sandals ever again.

Stayed at Beaches Boscobel during Hurricane Dean. Staff was professional, emergency plans were well executed. All in all, food was great, drinks were great. Yeah, someone offered marijuana, but no pressure. The only negative was the Rude Americans demanding to go home immediately (even heard it's "Life or Death!!". That was quite embarrassing for me. Locals were hanging out near the pier, but all were friendly and offered low pressure sales
in their little shops, no biggie. Due to the hurricane, we were unable to get out of the resort for additional activities, but since Sandals has given us a completely free second vacation (hurricane warranty), I'm sure we'll be back to soak in all the rest. Have to say we loved it. The locals were so friendly. I actually enjoy soaking up local culture both good and bad.
