Island Activities

Island Activities

Negril has the island's best beaches, but there are also good beaches in the southwest and in Montego Bay. Despite the conservative culture of Jamaica, nude sunbathing is common at some resorts.

Tour operators will pick you up from your resort for a wide range of activities. Although diving isn't a top activity, dive operators work from all of the island's major resort areas.

Jamaica has some spectacular golf courses, the best of which are near Montego Bay.

You can go rafting on the slow, lazy Rio Grande, Martha Brae, or White rivers.

Tour operators are coming up with new activities all the time. Chukka Caribbean Adventures operates ATV courses, canopy tours, horseback riding, and even a dogsledding adventure.

But as many people seem to be drawn to Jamaica for the music—particularly reggae, which originated on the island. Bob Marley, one of reggae's most famous stars, is an island legend, and a pilgrimage to the places that were meaningful to him is often on the tourist's agenda.
