This 10-acre complex has a contemporary, colorful lobby, cosmopolitan bar, and dual pools that are surrounded by mauve market umbrellas and silver patio furniture. The separate Mahogany section is the hotel's pride. In this area, all the rooms and its two-bedroom, bi-level suites were renovated with contemporary French furnishings, lots of leather and lots of minimalist style, and large terraces with enviable sea views. Expert, Parisian-trained technicians staff the Payot spa; La Créole Spa welcomes nonguests as well. The restaurants do, too; Zawag and the buffet room, Route des Epices, are both laudable and moderately priced. You'll find the best rums from throughout the Caribbean and light fare in the bar-lounge. The hotel's magic lies in the fun you'll find here, which unites everyone, whether you enjoy aqua aerobics, playing pétanque (French boccie), or moving to a zouk band. When the piano man and base player are on, they add to the conviviality.
