Fodor's Expert Review Plage Caravelle

Caribbean Beach

Just southwest of Ste-Anne, you'll find one of Grande-Terre's longest and prettiest stretches of sand—the occasional dilapidated shack notwithstanding. Protected by reefs, this is also a fine snorkeling spot. Club Med occupies one end of this beach, and nonguests can enjoy its beach and water sports, as well as lunch and drinks, by buying a day pass. You can also have lunch on the terrace of La Toubana Hotel & Spa, then descend the stairs to the beach—or enjoy lunch at La Toubana's beach restaurant, wildly popular on Sunday. Amenities: food and drink; parking (no fee); toilets; water sports. Best for: partiers; snorkeling; sunset; swimming; walking; windsurfing.
