Fodor's Review

As a jazz dancer, Clara worked her way through Europe's capitals. She was always a colorful character, and her restaurant is equally vivid; even the napkins offer a splash of color. Her brother has taken over, keeping the landmark restaurant in the family, and Clara still makes cameo appearances. The food here is is haute Creole. The curries are intoxicating, and the chef has a remarkable way of preparing lambi (conch), octopus, and local fish, as well as preparing delicious paella and couscous. The Apricot tarte tatin is tres bonne. A dessert surprise is sweet potato pie, a recipe from a Carolina girl who was Clara's roomie in Paris.
