Etiquette & Behavior
Wearing shorts, short skirts, and halter tops in churches is considered inappropriate. Men in Santo Domingo never wear shorts. If you have to go to a government office and are wearing shorts, a clerk, who might have her blouse unbuttoned to show cleavage, may refuse entry to you.
Security at hotels and resorts is tight, particularly regarding having guests in your room, especially if they're Dominican and of the opposite sex. Indeed, if you do have one overnight, you may find that you're charged double.
