Casa Bonita Tropical Lodge Review

This small gem was once the country house of the Schiffino family. Still in the family, it's been reborn as a small luxury hotel. There are some Indonesian design elements, and the thatched-roof cabanas have gone deluxe, with contemporary lighting and natural materials like tabla de palma (wood slats of palm). Private balconies allow you to hear the river below and see the cloud forest above. You can have the lovely breakfast served on your balcony or in the palapa-topped (grass hut) restaurant that merges into the salon. Both overlook an infinity pool (with its own palm on a tiny island) and the sea beyond. New is the professional management team, the open-air spa in the river-forest, and a canopy tour (both are open to nonguests). Unquestionably, this is the most stellar option in the entire Southwest; it is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
