By Air in The Southeast Coast

There are two convenient airports for travel to the Southeast Coast. There are more flights (and perhaps better fares) into Las Américas International Airport, which is about 15 mi (24 km) east of Santo Domingo and served by the widest variety of major airlines. This is the most convenient airport if you're staying in Boca Chica or Juan Dolio. If you're staying in La Romana or Bayahibe, then the best airport is La Romana/Casa de Campo International Airport. It's possible to fly into Punta Cana, but then you face a 2-hour drive to La Romana, or 3½-hour drive to Juan Dolio.

Upon arrival, if you have booked a package through a travel agent, your airport transfers will almost certainly be included in the price you pay. Look for your company's sign as you exit baggage claim. If you book independently, then you'll probably have to reserve a private driver, take a taxi, or rent a car.

Airport Transfers

There are no regular airport shuttle buses in the D.R., so plan on taking a taxi if you're traveling independently (or arrange airport transfers through your hotel or villa rental agent). Private drivers are also a possibility but will charge more.

Dré Broders is a licensed tour guide and private driver who speaks English, German, Dutch, Spanish, and French. He will pick up passengers from any of the area airports and bring them to any destination on the southeast coast. His late-model car is clean and well-maintained, his driving safe. His prices are often better than regular taxis, and he is 100% reliable.

Tropical Tours, the primary tour operator on the Southeast Coast, which has an office in Casa de Campo, also does airport transfers to the resort.
