Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa Review

One of the better Dominican all-inclusives, this resort sits on an exceptional palm-fringed ribbon of white sand protected by a coral reef that offers great snorkeling from the beach. The glorious sea-view pool and Oceana restaurant form an impressive complex and are often the site of weddings, which are well orchestrated here. The spa, which has a European manager, definitely merits a visit, or have your massage in an open-air wooden hut. The kids' Explorers Club (open until 10 pm) raises the resort's family profile substantially. Whimsical Victorian-style fretwork (a pre-renovation vestige) still trims many of the resort's facades, but all rooms have been upgraded in a contemporary style. The property also includes a fun disco, a glam casino, a Core Zone for teenagers, an Italian restaurant (Portofino) and a French restaurant (Bordeaux) that are both exceptionally attractive, and a convention center for 700 people. The lobby is enhanced with tropical plantings and stylish European furnishings. The elevated club level has some welcome upgraded amenities, access to the newest (private) infinity pool, and a club lounge with free Wi-Fi.
