This Super Clubs resort, one of the few 24-hour all-inclusives on the North Coast, is actually between Sosúa and Cabarete, on 62 expansive acres with an extensive beach and quietly removed from the highway noise by a long driveway. Rooms and villas have been completely gutted, and new white furniture has been moved in, accented by a yellow motif. Exteriors are now painted in the same cheery yellow. The newer hotel buildings 10 and 11 have had minor cosmetic improvements, but they were fine before, with bi-level master suites furnished with rough-hewn four-posters and woven wall hangings. The sprawling resort has the Lighthouse Spa that is consistently recommendable. Its Carnival Casino, one of the few locally, has also had a floor-to-ceiling redo. A Dominican family favorite on weekends and during low season, the resort is also frequented by Europeans and Americans, who prevail in the winter season. Pros: There are quiet spots even when the resort is full (such as on the beach in front of the spa's faux lighthouse), memorable breakfast buffet, tipping is simply not allowed. Cons: Internet is only accessed in the computer room and is expensive, other than the great breakfast the food is not super, clientele can be rowdy.
