Fodor's Review:

Italian for "little castle on the sea," this is the crown jewel in the string of lavish vacation homes collectively known as Orchid Bay Estates. Its Italianate design, ceiling paintings, and original art by Guillermo Estrada raise it to the level of palazzo. Guests can swim in the hotel-size pool, bubble in the Jacuzzi, or descend the stairway that leads to a semi-private, golden beach. The home offers as many diversions and amenities as a beach resort (even a well-stocked wine cellar); the caring staff makes it feel like home. Kids are welcome and love the game room, karaoke, shuffleboard, and more. This is truly opulent and unforgettable, be it for a destination wedding, small conference, or a Big Chill reunion. With eight bedrooms, even these rates are affordable when considered per person. Airport transfers are available from Puerto Plata; the mandatory meal plan is $65 per person per day. Pros: For all its grandeur and size it's as laid-back as a garden hammock, master suites are sumptuous indeed and have gas fireplaces, an English baker provides scones, fresh-baked cookies, breads, and cakes. Cons: The beach is rocky and requires reef shoes, two great Danes live on site, the staff of 8 can be a bit much.
