Onno's Bar, right next to LAX, remains a serious party place. It is usually wall-to-wall and back-to-back as the young and fit pack the dance floor and groove to techno sounds while other multinational youth sit at the tables in the sand. It's easier to get served at the beach bar than the main one, and as you chill, people will pass by, introduce themselves, chat, and then move on. It's fun and friendly, with theme nights—Wednesday is Mexican night and Thursday is Ladies
night. Happy Hour is daily from 6–9 pm and Killer Hour is from 9–10 pm...don't ask, just go. A DJ cranks it up on Friday and Saturday nights, however, in high season, when it stays open until 3 am, the scene can get rowdy. (In fact, some local expats say that the crowd that it is now attracting is less than wonderful.) Cabarete's Onno's now has sister establishments in Bavaro, Altos de Chavon and Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial.
