Designed by architect Sara Garcia, sophisticated Casa Colonial, a boutique property exuding refinement and relaxation on the quiet end of the long beach, is a surprise among the all-inclusives of Playa Dorada. In comparison to the design, however, the suites fall flat. They are sumptuous—with Frette linens and an inviting open bath-to-bedroom floor plan—but those that do not overlook the beach are not as stellar as the public areas. The rooftop sundeck is close to heaven—an infinity pool and four warm Jacuzzis overlooking the ocean as well as an eatery here and on the ground floor facing the ocean; spa devotees will savor the Baqua Spa. If you like exclusive, small hotels, this is the choice on the North Coast.

Casa Colonial has proven to us to be one of the most luxurious resorts in the Dominican Republic. Pure elegance throughout, you can't beat the views particularly in the rooftop pool area. Dining was truly an incredible experience both in atmosphere, service and the presentation of the most incredible caribbean fusion dishes. Daytime presented a more relaxed elegance at Veranda, evening meals at the Lucia were nothing short of spectacular, explaining
why reservations are highly recommended. Relaxation and comfort is the mantra at Casa Colonial with friendly staff always there to assist to make your stay something to remember forever, particularly the "must have" spa treatment. If you could have only one luxury vacation in your lifetime I would make this trip the one!

My wife and I are just back from the DR and the Casa Colonial. We thought it was incredible! The hotel complex is simply the most beautiful we have seen, and we are widely traveled. The Fodor's review says service is sketchy but we thought it excellent...though we are good tippers and having a little Spanish definitely helped. The food was excellent, the beach flawless. The rooftop pool is an oasis and the spa was fantastic...nothing like having
a beautiful Dominicana rub you down after a tough day on the golf course. There is not much to do here, we only left the complex twice, and even then we just wanted to get back. They burn incense in the hallways in the morning..the scent of sandalwood will forever remind us of Casa Colonial.
