Fodor's Review

The stunning, contemporary entrance flanked by slender white pillars leads to the attractive lobby at this adults-only resort. It's an incredible value for the peso, euro, or dollar, but there are many flaws and complaints. Standard and standard-plus rooms are basic, small, and rooms near the stage can be noisy until 11 pm. If possible upgrade to the spacious, quiet villas (bungalows) with Jacuzzis. Rooms have had some new interior decoration. What remains inviting is the international buffet, from raw oysters to a real turkey dinner, depending on the nightly theme. Reservations are needed for the á la cartes, where the food is not necessarily as good, but the ambience more relaxing. House wine is swill, beer is better. Learning-oriented activities were the norm here—aqua aerobics by a certified instructor, Spanish classes, etc.—but now, as one guest describes it, there's “silly little games around the pool,” with Dominican music loud and constant.
