Well-located on the Malecón, this deluxe high-rise is one of the closest to the Zona Colonial. The concierge-level rooms have always offered a pleasurable way to do business or have a pampered urban vacation. For about 15% more per person (above the cost of a regular room), you can get your clothes ironed, shoes shined, hook-up to a DSL line, have a free breakfast in the ocean-view lounge, and enjoy premium cocktails and hors d'ouvres during happy hour. Over the years, decor had become worn and, well, dated. But a major renovation, starting with the lobby and its domes, on to the meeting rooms, club level, then the remainder of the guest rooms, began in early 2008. Pros: Nightly lobby cocktail hour, free Wi-Fi in the lobby and concierge lounge, professional service staff and management. Cons: Unrenovated rooms are tired, the size of the hotel means less personal service, could use another restaurant.
