On a Friday night, this Malecón eatery is abuzz, and not just from the drone of the moto scooters. Patrons watch sports on the TV out on the patio, and a pizza oven in the corner spits out orders to go while a grill turns out simple dishes like shrimp or chicken breast on a wooden board with fries or tostones. "Loaded" grilled sandwiches are man-size (and available 24 hours). This rough and rustic joint that's trying to please everyone, which it often does, is best known for mofongo (of many varieties like chicken, lobster, and lambi). Asopao has the addition of shellfish. The good news is that tax is included and a Presidente is only RD$54. The bad news is the cleanliness, which leaves something to be desired.
