There's a lovely inner courtyard here with tropical plants and galleries for temporary exhibitions. Within the Casa Rodrigo de Bastidas, the brilliant Museo Infantils Trampolin (809/685-5551. www.trampolin.org.do) is a great destination for your kids even if they do not speak Spanish. This is the most kid-friendly venue in the city and the interactive experience (for parents, too) delves into paleontology, geology, ecology, biodiversity, water, and technology. It's a fun place and certainly stimulating, with earthquake and volcano simulations and a jungle gym made with giant, pretend body parts. Call in advance and you may be able to get a bilingual guide.
