A few kilometers past Playa Bahoruco, the joy here is that a river comes right into the sea, and a rock dam makes a small waterfall, which, in turn, forms a pool. Little children scamper in and out of its frigid waters, and you certainly can join them. It's cold, yes, but safer than swimming in the sea, which has quite a strong undertow beneath the mild waves. Beach shacks here turn out tasty fried fish and tostones. You may even be able to get red snapper filets in coconut sauce. Parking is RD$40, which pays for the security guard.
