Fodor's Review:

At Barahona's colorful Mercado you can find good prices on locally made handicrafts, Haitian art, wooden pilones (mortars and pestles), and giras (a musical instrument that looks like a kitchen grater; a knife is stroked across it to make a metallic sound), which can be hung as wall decorations.
