Fodor's Review

Without question, this is a world-class cultural center for Dominican arts and culture. A postmodern building with an interior space full of light from a crystal dome, the center includes several attractions, including a multimedia biodiversity show, a museum dedicated to the history of the Dominican Republic, a simulated local market, a dramatic showcase of Dominican art and sculpture, galleries for special exhibits, a sculpture garden, an aviary, classrooms, and a replica

of La Aurora's first cigar factory, where cigar rollers turn out handmade cigars. Presently, an exhibition celebrates the Centennial of the León Jimenes family. There's even a first-rate cafeteria and a museum shop where you can buy high-quality, artsy souvenirs and jewelry. Check the web site for activities and night events. It can be a fine way to meet sophisticated Santiagueros who have a high level of fluency in English. It's best to give advance notice if you want a guided tour in English:
