Acaya Café

Acaya Café Review

The most sophisticated and social of the restaurants on Playa Bonita sits beneath an attractive palapa, with colorful pillows giving it a tropical splash of color. The eclectic décor includes long lanterns created from palm roots. It's this attention to detail that gives the café a whiff of languorous style and French elan. Lounge chairs and settees make it an inviting place to curl up with a book or a laptop (Wi-Fi is free); it's a beach, after all. The menu offers typical Samaná fare—carpaccios, ceviches, fish filets in coconut sauce—and it's almost always right to go for the grilled fresh fish and lobster. Yet the meat is imported, most from the U.S. A new menu offers more selection and creativity than in years past.
