Villa La Plantación Review

Remi Catinot is the exuberant owner and keeper of his classy "castle"—two concrete two-story buildings set around a decadent, Romanesque pool that offer simple, unadorned rooms about a block from the beach. Although the location is not beachfront, this is a good home base from which to explore Las Galeras. Try for a second-floor room with a terrace. An inexpensive Continental breakfast is available. If you can arrange for dinner, especially the lobster, it may be the best meal you will have in Las Galeras. This Frenchman can qualify as a chef. Nonguests can sometimes book, so try if you are in the area.

    Villa La Plantación Review

I travel 3 or 4 times a year to Las Galeras on business. When I finally stayed at Villa La Plantacion after staying at other places in town, I knew that this was the place for me. First of all, the pool is so inviting and refreshing. The filtration system is not chlorine based and the water is always limpid. The garden is tranquil, beautiful and always well maintained. The plants, trees and flowers are finely selected and work a soothing ambiance. Rooms are clean and uncluttered with ceiling fans and ac. On the second floor the double doors lead to the balcony with comfortable chairs and a table. The bathroom is a little undersized but clean, functional and with plenty of hot water. The location is just off the main street and within walking distance of services, restaurants, disco and the beach. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed and friendly. Fellow travelers may greet each other in Spanish, French or English and finding interesting conversation is not difficult.I would recommend an ice cold Presidente and an evening swim to relax after a day of adventuring around Samana.

    Villa La Plantación Review

What a lovely and cheap!!! place. The house is hiding behind the tropical garden, rooms are simple but cute and comfortable, it is a 2minute walk to the center and to the beach. People are nice and happy to help. We wanted to experience a different vacation, and we are happy we did.

    Villa La Plantación Review

My husband, two kids (8, 13) and I stayed here for four nights and had a blast. We began and ended the day at the lovely pool, slept in the simple, clean and comfortable rooms, laid clothes to dry while we sat on the balconies and explored beaches and neighborhoods in the daytime. Drinks at Gri Gris and dinner at El Cabito. A perfect off the beaten track getaway.

    Villa La Plantación Review

I paid in advance one night’s rent to hold the room (50 euros) and we had planned to stay for three nights. Due to a change in plans, we had the leave one day early, the owner was irate with my wife. We did stay two nights and when we paid our bill he again went into a ig deal about the third night and how he was out 50 Euros and we must pay for the third night and a conversion fee of $17 USD since we wired dollars and not Euros for the deposit. This was very unpleasant and spoiled our trip. The Hotel was very minimal no AC, no screens, no drinking cups. I would give it a back packer rating and I have a house in the DR. This was a very unpleasant experience. Breakfast for 3 Euros was toast; coffee and juice find another place
