Fodor's Review

Decidedly one of the better hotels in the eastern corner of the peninsula, Villa Serena makes for a wonderful, stress-free Samaná vacation. The secluded, oceanfront location is removed from the business of the main beach, but it's close enough to be able to walk over to the town. Included in the price are the use of kayaks, bicycles, and snorkeling equipment. The views of El Cayito and of the long pier are a large part of the joy of staying here. In the newer wing, the

sensational Room 17 has two balconies and a hammock overlooking the beach. Newer rooms have bamboo canopy beds with covering scrims. Excursions are available directly from the premises and can include a drop off at quiet Playa Rincón for the day by a local fisherman, hiking, and horseback riding. New are the yoga and zumba classes, both scheduled and on demand.
