Towns, Barahona
Fodor's Review:
The drive from Santo Domingo zigs and zags through small towns, passing coco and banana plantations until you get on Carretera Azua, a fine highway with mountain views and fences of bougainvillea hiding fields of peppers and flowers. You can bathe in the cascades of icy mountain rivers or in hot thermal springs surrounded by dense foliage, llanai vines, and fruit trees. Barahona can be a tropical Garden of Eden.
