The Viva take-over of what was a simple yellow-and-white resort, with manicured gardens and the astounding beach, El Cosón, came with a dramatic expansion of facilities that doesn't stop. Now a new classy cigar bar has been installed in the lobby, which sells name-brand stogies and high-end liquor. Accommodations need some refurbishing, which is in the works, and Americans gravitate toward the ocean-view superior rooms and the cabanas smack on the beach. If you really want nice digs, chose the new Bahia Estela a short jaunt down the beach (see above). Characteristic of Vivas, a young and fun spirit pervades, with emphasis on games and water sports; the disco rocks.
